From Praia do Garrão Nascente to Praia do Ancão – A Beach Walk on the Algarve

Today starts with a trip to a tire repair shop. Flat tires are situations one would prefer to avoid – especially on vacation. However, our experience at a shop in Albufeira showed us that even such unpleasant moments can turn into something positive.

We were just having a relaxed day yesterday when we noticed that our car tire was losing air. After a quick inspection, we found the culprit: A screw had punctured the tire. Our first thought? Total stress! But we decided to make the best of it and searched online for the nearest shop. After a brief search, we found one and chose the tire shop in Albufeira with the best reviews.

As soon as we arrived at the Euromaster Pneu Rapido shop, we were greeted warmly. The mechanic – a friendly local – immediately looked at the tire and got to work!

In no time, the tire was repaired. The mechanic pulled out the screw, sealed the puncture, and checked the entire tire for further damage. The work was done in less than 30 minutes.

What made this experience particularly positive was the professionalism of the mechanic. His calm demeanor made us quickly forget the stress of the flat tire.

The repair was not only fast and uncomplicated but also reasonably priced. We paid only 16 euros, just like the locals. No surprises, no unnecessary extra costs – exactly what one wishes for in such a situation.

Sometimes it’s the small, unexpected encounters that enrich a vacation. Our flat tire in Albufeira could have been a hassle, but thanks to the straightforward help at the shop, it became an experience we'll remember with a smile.

The weather is sunny, and we decide to go for a beach walk from Praia do Garrão Nascente to Praia do Ancão.

The Algarve is renowned for its endless sandy beaches, shimmering sea, and peaceful atmosphere. Today we set out to explore a section of this paradise, taking the path from Praia do Garrão Nascente to Praia do Ancão.

This stretch is part of a beach that extends from Quarteira to Faro. It is approximately 15 to 16 kilometers long, depending on how you measure it. It stretches along the Algarve coast and includes several contiguous beaches, such as Praia de Quarteira, Praia do Almargem, Praia de Vale do Lobo, Praia do Garrão, Praia do Ancão, and finally, Praia de Faro. This stretch of beach offers endless golden sandy areas, beautiful dune landscapes, and clear water – ideal for long walks or other sports activities.

Back to our walk. It is a stroll filled with natural beauty, relaxing moments, and inspiring views. The sand is soft and golden, while the sea gently washes against the shore. On this path, you encounter unspoiled nature. Dune grasses sway in the wind, seagulls circle overhead, and the sun bathes everything in a warm light.

The crystal clear water of the Atlantic shows itself at its best here – in shades of turquoise to azure blue. The sea is rising; it is high tide.

Between the two beaches, it becomes pleasantly quiet. It is the perfect place to clear your mind.

Almost like a piece of untouched nature. Especially the dune landscape impresses with its simple, wild beauty.

The path back leads through the characteristic dunes, which are part of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. We take the wooden walkway that leads us back through the delicate dune landscape without disturbing nature.

Before we head back, we made a stop at one of the charming beach restaurants. Seats like in a cinema with a view of the sea, instead of popcorn, there are gambas.

In the evening, we meet Christina at Galé beach for an aperitif and dinner. I first met Christina 17 years ago during one of my earlier visits here. Much has changed since then, but our tradition of meeting once a year has remained. We shared moments we had experienced over the past years while also sharing our latest experiences and plans, making the evening a wonderful mix of nostalgia and curiosity about the future.

The evening reminded me of how valuable such connections are. It’s not just the places that make a vacation unforgettable, but also the people who keep crossing paths with you and share a piece of your life journey.
