One of the landmarks of Chiang Mai is the 'Wat Phra That Doi Suthep' temple which sits on the hill next to the town.
At first, we wanted to hike up the hill, but then we decided differently and took a red car up.
After the nearly 15-minute drive, we arrived at the temple. A magnificent golden building.
Just like in any public temple, you had to take off your shoes here.
The temple was once again very impressive, with its decorations and design.
The view of the city is surely very beautiful on clear days, it was already beautiful today even though it was cloudy and slightly hazy.
We wanted to hike back to the city as we saw on the map that the hiking trail passes by different waterfalls. Since we drove up and missed the waterfalls, we hiked down.
The hiking trail took us through the jungle, through narrow and slippery passages. But the silence, or rather the noise that can only be heard in a jungle with all its insects and birds, is simply amazing.
We also passed by 3 different waterfalls and admired them.
However, I had a scary moment to endure. After a rather thoughtless step, I slipped on the wet rock and fell about 2 meters into the stream bed and slid about 5 meters along the stream before coming to a stop in a small pool.
Fortunately, I wasn't hurt, but there will probably be a few bruises and I need to buy a new pair of sunglasses as I lost mine during my slide.
At the last waterfall, there was also the opportunity to take a voluntary bath.
After about 3 hours, we were back at our hostel and enjoyed a refreshing shower. It was once again a hot, humid day.
