We haven't been in Germany for 15 months, so we spent the past month in our old homeland.
After flying back to the Caribbean coast of Mexico from Sayulita to perform our antigen test, there was nothing standing in the way of the 11-hour flight from Cancun to Frankfurt. We spent the 10-day quarantine in an apartment near Frankfurt. We didn't tell anyone about our visit to Germany. So, the excitement was huge when we picked up our rental car and set off to surprise our families. From the beginning of our journey, we had dreamed of one day meeting our parents again in the form of a surprise visit.
Surprise successful - Our families were naturally surprised and super happy to be able to look into our eyes again after almost 1.5 years.
During the past few weeks, we naturally spent a lot of time talking and sharing stories. So much had changed for us, while life in Germany, apart from the Corona pandemic, simply continued.
We really enjoyed looking at our home country with different eyes.
Due to our travels, we have learned to appreciate many little things here in Germany. Whether it's drinkable tap water, delicious bread, or the huge variety of products in the supermarket. Above all, we have come to love the landscapes and nature in our homeland in a whole new way. We enjoyed the slowly emerging spring in the Black Forest, Danube Valley, and Lake Constance.
The days have shown us that the most beautiful places are sometimes right on our doorstep, but we often don't notice them in everyday life.
Otherwise, our time here has been marked by some organizational matters such as visits to authorities, dentist appointments, and selling the rest of our belongings on eBay Classifieds.
After 15 months, we finally had the opportunity to exchange the wardrobe of our backpacks, which was a great highlight, especially for Bianca.
Now we are once again facing packed backpacks, because our journey will continue. Where to and for how long? We will see.
For now, we don't want to settle in one place or return to our old life. Traveling has changed us too much and made us curious about what else there is to discover and experience in this wonderful world.
We are young and want to make the most of the best years of our lives by traveling. Some may not find this desirable, which we fully understand. However, 1.5 years ago, we realized that everyone has the opportunity to be the creator of their own life, and so we decided to take this step. Today, we can say that we don't regret a single second of it.
We will definitely spend the next 2 weeks at the Algarve again.
This place has become a little piece of home for us after spending almost half a year there last year. We are really looking forward to seeing many joys and familiar faces there.
We will continue to share our experiences with you through this blog.
So stay tuned for what there is to report.
Best regards,
Your nomads, Bianca and Michael
