Koh Jum - Paradise!?

The next morning we continued our journey to Koh Jum! Booking it was quite a funny matter, as no one knew what kind of island it was or how we would get there. In the end, we took a minivan towards Krabi, from where a boat would take us to our dream island. However, we were dropped off and told that there would be no ferries to Koh Jum in June and July. Luckily, we were able to prove our booking to Koh Jum with our ticket. After a few phone calls, it was now possible and we were taken to another pier by a luxury minivan. There, we switched to a longtail boat, where we were the only tourists and sat next to a scooter. The days at the national park and now off the beaten path, I finally got to experience the warmth of the Thai people, which I had heard about but had not found in vain. On the boat, we were given a banana as a gift and we were almost like a real attraction. The boat set off, the engine backfired several times and we had to shift the weight on the boat. But then we leisurely chugged over the sea. When we arrived at Koh Jum, we were already expected and drove to our accommodation by car. Aosi Bungalow... Bungalows built directly on the beach into the mountain. Andrea and I were the only guests and got accommodation with a wonderful sea view. I felt like I was in paradise! We started our beach exploration walk and were shocked by the amount of trash that was lying on the beach. On the way, we met a Thai woman who burned the plastic waste on the beach, and she explained to us that all the garbage from Koh Phi Phi is washed up here during the flood. However, they would only really clean it up when the season starts again. We passed many run-down accommodations, many stray dogs, and wild monkeys, and then walked back across the road. When we returned to the bungalows, we ordered some food on-site. After over an hour, the food arrived - unfortunately not particularly tasty, except for a few chicken skewers. In this accommodation, too, we encountered some not very popular pets, such as spiders, frogs, cockroaches, lizards, and a few ants in the bed. Nevertheless, the night was super restful because we could finally sleep in and woke up to the sound of the sea. We rented two scooters and then the island tour could begin. I was a little worried because the last time I rode a scooter was on Ibiza a few years ago. Mind you, with a small accident, and here on Koh Jum, there is nowhere to rent a helmet. But it was really awesome. We explored every road and some rocky trails on the scooter. With our newfound mobility, we could also eat elsewhere and discovered a really nice restaurant where we had delicious breakfast and dinner the next day. After spending the whole day on the scooter and watching the sunset on the beach, we had a cozy evening on our terrace. I didn't sleep particularly well the following night, as I kept dreaming that we had cockroaches in the bed. We slept in comfortably the next morning and then went on another scooter tour. We decided to rent a scooter together for the day and after a delicious breakfast, we first went back to relax on the beach. After the midday heat had passed, we went back to the small village on the scooter. That evening, we played a round of pétanque with some locals. It's just so nice to be welcomed so warmly! After another cozy evening on our terrace, we went to bed to drive to Phuket the next day.
