Mouzon - Stenay
This morning we were able to refuel with water; unfortunately, the showers and toilets were closed.
The road to Stenay takes us along a somewhat mystical route, passing by an incredible number of swans, gray and silver herons, and even kingfishers.
Driving through the mystical forest, we unexpectedly enter a fishing competition, where about 30 anglers have set up their locks and lines along several hundred meters of field.
As expected, two locks malfunctioned one after the other today, significantly slowing down this waiting time.
The guys, Benni & Linda, then briefly decided to disregard life-threatening risks and cheerfully attached the SUP behind the boat's propeller with the rope. Skinny dipping was also on the agenda, but it was a chilly 3 degrees.
In Stenay, we then docked in the midst of a swarm of ducks (?) - significantly more mosquitoes than yesterday. But much more importantly - the official olive pit spitting games have begun. Jan is the undisputed champion!
After a little exploration (the beer museum was unfortunately closed, but we were able to pick thyme, sage, and rosemary), we enjoyed good red wine, beer, wraps, and games (today the name Jan Janssen also came about).
