Hello everyone,
Yesterday, we had a change of plan for today :).
We discovered that Phong Nha National Park is only an hour away from us, so we decided to incorporate it into our itinerary.
After a rough night with very little sleep (the bed was more like a prop, the noise from the main road was indescribable, and there was constant banging and shouting inside the hotel...), it wasn't hard for us to leave the bed.
At around 10 AM, we set off towards the national park. We were grateful to only have an hour's drive ahead of us. We drove on the main road for 30 minutes, then took our turn and the road became really beautiful.
We reached our destination around noon (we took the drive really leisurely) and stopped at one of the roadside restaurants. We decided to have a burger, as we were craving for something substantial to eat :).
After that, we drove along the river, where there were hostels. We chose one and were able to check in right away. The night here is quite expensive compared to our previous accommodations (40 Swiss Francs), but by the time we realized it, it was already too late...
Shortly after, we were back on the motorcycle :).
We wanted to see some of the national park, after all :).
The roads here in the park are so beautiful! After a 20-minute drive, we arrived at a so-called "botanical garden," which was nothing like what we were used to! It was a part of the jungle that you could explore on your own. The path led through bumpy trails, rocks and branches, to waterfalls and a viewpoint. The excursion was really worth it! We stayed at the waterfall for at least an hour and took one photo after another :).
By 5 PM, we were back outside, and after a refreshing drink, we drove back. Along the way, we flew the drone, and only then did we realize how huge the jungle is!
Once we reached the room, we really needed the shower! But... There was a really big spider! We're not fans of these crawling creatures, so we got help from the reception :).
The little Vietnamese girl calmly took the broom and chased the thing. Yes, the spider fought back... It ran and jumped... No, that would not have been for us :).
A few minutes later, she triumphed over the small creature and in our eyes, she was a true heroine :).
Now we're sitting in the restaurant of our hotel and looking forward to dinner!
Tomorrow, we will also enjoy the day here in the national park and already have a few excursion destinations in mind.
Stay tuned ;).
So, see you tomorrow!
