Haaalloooo everyone :)
Since it was late again yesterday, we also started the day late today. We have a real problem with our sleep rhythm since this whole 'stay at home' situation...
Anyway, we sat by the pool for a while and woke up. Thanks to the wine yesterday, I noticed this morning that all my cigarettes are gone... So I hopped on the scooter and drove to the nearest supermarket. Just as I decided to leave, dark rain clouds appeared. As luck would have it, the cloud started to rain just as I got on the scooter. By the time I got back, I was soaking wet! You could even wring out my socks in my shoes! When I turned towards our accommodation, Kevin was already waiting for me: filming with his phone in his hand and a huge grin on his face :).
What can you do? Take off the shirt and pants and jump into the pool! The pool water was even warmer than the rainwater *laughs*!
After splashing around for a while, I sat down next to Kevin and we started the day :).
That was a funny start to the day!
We sat outside for a while longer until we got hungry. In the Patong Hills, there is a restaurant called 'Patong Sunset Restaurant,' which promises a magnificent view. That was our goal! But first, we went to return the scooter since we still owed them money. Of course, when we rented the bike, no one expected us to be in Phuket in May. The drive through Patong was very... let's just say 'interesting'.... At first, the main streets were deserted, almost eerie. Huge hotels: closed! There was little traffic, and the only people on the street were occasional joggers. We turned a few times to get to the rental place, and the further we got from the main street, the more life returned. Suddenly, there were scooters and people everywhere - the exact opposite of the usual hustle and bustle in Patong. When we reached the rental place, it was closed - like most of Patong. We tried our luck and knocked on the window. Then, a woman, or rather a girl, emerged from under the desk (no idea what she was doing there :)) and opened the door for us. She called the rental owner briefly, handed us the phone, and after everything was settled, we paid and drove on. We drove up the 'Patong Hills' to the chosen restaurant. But unfortunately, it was closed... So we thought we would look for something else. Probably without a view, maybe inside again... Just something to eat and not in our accommodation. But then we suddenly saw another open restaurant: about 500 meters next to the chosen one and also with a great view! We immediately stopped there. The restaurant owner was visibly happy about our visit and gave us a great table with a direct view over the whole of Patong. We ordered fried rice and noodles, both with chicken, and we were both very satisfied with our food. The restaurant owner told us that he had an apartment for rent - right below his place for half the price we are paying now. It doesn't have a pool, but it has a really great view. He kept telling us about it repeatedly, making it clear that he is currently going through difficult times. In hindsight, we regret our choice of villa... So many Thai people are fighting to survive right now, and our current host obviously has more than enough to live on... We will search differently for our next accommodation and definitely take this factor into consideration.
After dinner, we decided to drive a bit further to the 'Rock Viewpoint' near Paradise Beach. But when we were close, we were stopped by roadblocks. Obviously, not everything is open yet... We knew about the beaches, but we thought that viewpoints are now open. No big deal, we caught some great views along the way (see pictures), and the spontaneous trip was really good. On the way back, we stopped at our favorite bar and had a drink. We've never been there so late, and the sunset was magical - even though the sun didn't set over the sea. We returned to our house around 7 p.m. and now we are sitting outside under moonlight. Considering that we didn't actually do anything, we experienced a lot and have to say: it was a great day.
So my loves, we are enjoying another drink and calling it a day for now ;).
See you tomorrow!
