Football, Mount Royal, and Kreuzberg's Montreal

On the day of my arrival in Montreal, I actually passed by the stadium of the Montreal Impact. So I decided to check when the next game is. Yesterday evening, I bought a ticket for today's game for around €15 via the internet. My nice landlords printed out my ticket for me and so I went to the football match at 1 p.m. Impact Montreal played against Los Angeles FC and it had everything a football game needs. Full house, lots of goals, penalties, red cards, hat-tricks. In the end, Montreal lost 3-5 against LA, but it was a great experience. Two years ago, Didier Drogba, whom those familiar with football or those who like to remember the 'Finale Dahoam' will know, played for Montreal. Unfortunately, there was no one familiar on the field today, but that didn't diminish the fun. In addition, today was the first time I had to worry about getting sunburned. The sky was sparkling blue and the sun was at its full strength. After the game, I started my trip to the city center again. My destination was Mount Royal, a small mountain right in Montreal and the namesake of the city. No building in Montreal is allowed to be taller than Mount Royal. It has several vantage points and a large park. On the way up, the 'small' mountain quickly turned into a big one, and when I reached the top, I needed to catch my breath. I kept turning around on the way up to enjoy the fantastic view. When I finally reached the top, I knew every step was worth it. Simply wow. The descent led me through the Le Plateau-Mont-Royal district, and there, unexpectedly, I found what I had missed in Toronto. A neighborhood similar to Berlin's Kreuzberg, with lots of street art, the smell of weed, small cafes, cute restaurants, and many young people on the streets. I strolled through the streets until sunset and later took the subway back to my apartment. For dinner, as previously announced, I had burgers with sweet potato fries. Mmmm delicious :)
