The border crossing was uncomplicated and we didn't have to wait. The bus stopped in Peru and we walked to Bolivia on foot to continue from there. In Copacabana, we stayed in a hotel with a beautiful view of Lake Titicaca.

On the first evening, we hiked to a lookout point (Mirador) to watch the sunset and the starry sky. Here, we could see a lot of stars and even the Milky Way. What surprised us all was that the moon was nowhere to be seen. It was probably not yet risen, but even the next evening after eleven, we still couldn't see it. When we hiked back down from the Mirador, we were initially accompanied by a dog, Paul named him Rudolf until it turned out that he was more of a Rudolfine. In the end, three dogs were with us, who accompanied us to the restaurant where we went to eat. We felt like they were protecting us from the other street dogs, in any case, we felt very safe in the little pack.

On Tuesday morning, we took a boat for 1.5 hours to Isla del Sol, the island where, according to mythology, the sun god Inti created the first ruler of the Incas. Isla del Sol is 9.6km long and 4.6km wide, mountainous, without roads, but with a beach (and a dead chicken in the water). Today, about 2000 people live on the island, and the highest point is 4075 meters above sea level. We wandered around a bit and sat at the harbor for a while. The boys went into the water, but Velina and I didn't want to get too close to the chicken that was getting closer.

At three o'clock, the boats went back to Copacabana.

On Wednesday, we continued to La Paz. I wouldn't have minded staying here for another day, it was nice and quiet, a relaxed little place by the water with little traffic on the streets.
