Today's day is quickly told because not much exciting happened. Maybe we were a bit tired from the last two days of traveling, but tomorrow, when we go to Machu Picchu, everything will be overcome and forgotten.
So today we started the day with a late breakfast and decided to simply take advantage of the great massage offer in Cusco at noon. The number of providers and the prices remind us a lot of Thailand. After a short coffee break, we lie down at 2 pm for an hour on the massage table and enjoy ourselves (approximately €15 per person for one hour - but it could be much cheaper). Feeling relaxed and yet tired, we stroll through the city and visit the famous "Church of the Society of Jesus" at the Plaza de Armas. The splendor is overwhelming.
In the late afternoon, we walk back to the hotel to prepare for the two-day trip to Machu Picchu. Especially because of Corona, there are many rules and a lot to consider, e.g., in the train, an FFP2 mask AND a face shield must be worn. More information will follow in the article about Machu Picchu itself.
To end the rather lazy day, we go to Chicha, supposedly the best restaurant in Cusco. Nice atmosphere, great selection of food, and fair prices convince us, so we can highly recommend visiting this place. For the very brave: here you can even order the typical local dish, guinea pig. However, we decided not to. Now it's time to go to bed early because the alarm rings at 3:30 for our exciting trip.
The daily two:
Insight: Cusco offers so many opportunities to pass the time. The number of destinations can hardly be listed, and the number of great cafes and restaurants is unrivaled in Peru. Also, great massage studios, markets with fresh products, or small boutiques invite you to spend more time in this city.
Moment of happiness: The 60-minute massage was a dream for body and mind, and after covering many kilometers and altitudes, it was a real moment of happiness.
