San Francisco

Our journey began in late August 2024 in San Francisco. After a tiring 12-hour flight, the next day we headed straight to the Golden Gate Bridge. We treated ourselves to a stylish Ford Mustang convertible for our honeymoon and were able to travel flexibly and independently. Sausalito is a nice little suburb of San Francisco; a stroll in the harbor district is also worth seeing.

The next day we took a boat to Alcatraz - highly recommended. Alcatraz, a former US federal prison, is located about 15 minutes from the mainland on an island. It’s very windy and quite cool there - not much of the warm temperatures found in the city itself remain. Alcatraz is particularly interesting for fans of lost places and Clint Eastwood.

Afterward, we made a detour to Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf. At Pier 39, you’ll find a kind of amusement park right by the sea with numerous options for dining and shopping. A visit to Ghirardelli Chocolate Experience is especially recommended.
