Don't worry, we're still alive and doing well 😉. In the Canadian wilderness, Wi-Fi is rare and we needed a few days of rest after a sleepless flight with 'is there a medical doctor on board' and lots of action in Toronto.
Despite the lack of sleep, the joy of being in a country where communication is effortless and bus stops are marked outweighed everything else.
So we eagerly went to the CN Tower and were promptly rewarded. We enjoyed the amazing view in great weather and there were hardly any other tourists because of the early hour. After a visit to Kensington Market, it was time to do some laundry again.
I highly recommend having dinner in China Town, with fried or steamed dumplings with various fillings... yum😋😋
The morning of day 2 was about errands, Bekki needed new pants and we got Canadian SIM cards.
In the afternoon, we sat in the sun on Toronto Island and had dinner with live music in the Distillery District.
After getting settled in the camper, we headed towards Niagara Falls and started the first night with a BBQ.
Niagara Falls is incredibly impressive to see, but what scared me was how touristy everything was. Miles and miles of hotels, casinos, 'outdoor activities' and highways... you could say a small Las Vegas. We actually liked the Iguazu Falls better, even though they're not as big.
So far, we've driven over 1600km, seen beautiful places, and even camped in the wild. We even camped on the largest island in a lake in the world.
The highlight so far was a young bear running over a field less than 50m away from us, probably looking for its own territory. 😏 When Bekki tried to take a photo, it fled.
One more thing for all Canada enthusiasts, 'highway' can mean anything here, from a 4-lane highway to a dirt road... wish we had known that beforehand... 😅
Greetings from the wilderness
