Tasmania: Launceston (Australia Part 18)

On the way from St. Helens to Launceston, we made a stop at St. Columba Waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in Tasmania, with a height of 90 meters. The path led us through rainforest with tree ferns until we finally reached the waterfall.

Launceston is the second largest city in Tasmania and the third oldest in Australia. This was evident in the city center with its various old buildings.

Near the city center, there are also several hiking trails into a gorge called Cataract Gorge. On the way back, we dared to take the Zig-Zag Path, which was a bit steeper. Along the way, we encountered some people jogging there. However, we were content with climbing the steps and climbs on foot...

In the evening, we spontaneously attended a performance of the musical 'The Sound of Music' at the Princess Theatre. We had mainly heard about it through American TV series and an exhibition at the castle in Salzburg...

From Launceston, we drove towards Cradle Mountains on a quite winding road in the morning. Along the way, we eventually came across a car that took the curves at the rapid speed of about 25 km/h and accelerated to 50 km/h on straight stretches... Since the road was poorly visible, there was almost no passing allowed, and we had the pleasure of following this car for quite some time. Despite the minimal speed, constantly driving into the oncoming lane or going off the road. Either this was the worst driver I have ever seen or he had consumed something before the trip that he should have avoided...
