Yesterday it started! As always when leaving, there was still much more to do than expected. Jenny said we would never manage to leave on April 1st. I claimed that we would leave in the morning. We were both wrong: We started around 2:00 pm!
Jenny and I with Falk, Mia and Nala (cats) and Fly and Sarina (horses) with 2 cars & horse trailer and caravan, heading towards the Yeguada la Perla stud farm owned by Leonie Bühlmann in Spain. (https://www.yeguadalaperla.de/)
After a somewhat bumpy start (almost lost an additional rearview mirror, Jenny doesn't feel confident enough to drive with a trailer), we made good progress towards Geneva.
17:00, customs clearance for the horses (temporary export). Tedious paperwork but went well so far. Jenny is now driving the caravan. It's what she prefers. Continuing westward, passing north of Lyon until near the city of 'Clermont Ferrand', where someone still wanted to accommodate us despite the horse herpes virus.
Driving is going well. Excellent roads. Wide, well-maintained, but expensive (toll roads).
No major problems. Cats are scared and peeing on a cushion and a piece of furniture. Not a big deal.
Anyway, we arrived exhausted but safe at our destination, where we were warmly welcomed. Taking care of the horses & cats, setting up the caravan, and sleeping.
