6.01.18 Day trip to Sukhothai

Ebimisami: 06.01.2018

With the idea of a day trip to Sukhothai, we arrived in Phitsanulok yesterday. The city has 140,000 inhabitants and we as tourists are definitely in the minority. So far, we have seen two tourists in Phitsanulok. Almost everything is written in Thai and people speak very little English. Fortunately, we can also communicate well with gestures and body language :-)
This morning at quarter to eight, we walked from our hotel to the bus station. The streets were more or less empty and the few people we met were still quite sleepy.
At the bus station, we bought a ticket to Sukhothai Old City for 17 baht / person and traveled by air-conditioned car with adjustable seats. The journey took about 90 minutes.
Arriving in Sukhothai Old City, we had breakfast in a small restaurant right on the street and then rented two bicycles for 30 baht / day across from the entrance to the Historical Park.
The park is breathtaking. Large, quiet, and beautiful. Although many people find their way to the park, it is peaceful and there are moments when you are completely alone. The entire park has paved roads that can be used on foot or by bicycle. We enjoyed the atmosphere and spent about three hours in the park. If you are cycling, you can also visit the temples outside the park area.
Sukhothai and the Historical Park are definitely worth a visit!
Tomorrow we will continue to Chiang Mai. We are curious to see what awaits us there!
