Day 10: Crossing to Gili Air

Ebimisami: 29.03.2017

After our breakfast in Ubud, we were supposed to be picked up at 10:30 am to go to the island of Gili Air (part of Lombok). The taxi arrived shortly after 11 am. Then, we traveled through the country for 1 1/2 hours with seven other tourists until we reached Padangbai harbor. We were supposed to wait for about an hour there until the speed boat departs. Finally, at shortly after 4 pm, the boat was fuelled and we could set off. Punctuality and organization are major weaknesses in Indonesia 😯. Unfortunately, we couldn't eat anything during the day and there was no toilet, so our mood kept getting worse.

The crossing took about 1 1/2 hours. We also made a stop at Gili Trawang to drop off and pick up people. We will visit this island last before returning to Australia 🙄.

Finally arrived at Gili Air, we decided to walk to our bungalow. It is located on the opposite side of the harbor. It took us 20 minutes and we were extremely tired from all the waiting and walking. There are no cars here, only bicycles and horse-drawn carriages. We discovered a great restaurant right next to us, where everything is freshly prepared and homemade. Padi had homemade peanut sauce with his rice, vegetables, and chicken. And my vegetables were cooked in coconut water. Both were amazingly delicious. After that, we briefly went to the beach, but unfortunately, it was already dark and we postponed swimming until tomorrow. Now, we are just super tired and looking forward to tomorrow 🤗. We didn't expect the crossing to take so long and to be so exhausting. 😴
