Turtles in Praia do Forte

A little late I am now writing to you about my visit to the small town of Praia do Forte, approximately an hour's bus ride from Salvador.

Praia do Forte is known for Brazil's oldest and most successful turtle project. Projeto Tamar has a large visitor center on site where visitors can see some sea turtles and sharks. The revenue from this park is then invested in the protection of the turtles. Projeto Tamar takes in injured/sick turtles and releases them back into the wild when they are healthy. They also do their best to ensure that as many baby turtles as possible find their way to the sea.
