Day 2: Singapore - Auckland

Ebifulumiziddwa: 10.09.2018

After a 2-hour stopover in Singapore, I have arrived at the final leg of my journey to New Zealand. This time, my best friend is not 51A but 42K. Sitting next to me are two middle-aged men. After a short while, the so-called breakfast is served. Since I believe it should be lunchtime, I decide to have Singapore noodles instead of the omelette. I have made better decisions in the past. The food is not really good. The noodles have a peculiar taste and the side dish is unidentifiable. I still don't know what I actually ate. Probably some kind of mushroom.

I'm surprised by the quality of the music library. It has some of my favorite bands, such as Panic! At the Disco and The 1975. I quickly find interesting movies as well. My choices are Love, Simon and Mulan. Here's my sleep plan for this flight: Since this flight takes place during the day in New Zealand time, I will try not to sleep at all. That's why I take a nap of about an hour at around 3:00 PM. The flight is very pleasant. There are hardly any turbulences. Have I mentioned which plane I'm on? It's a Boeing 787 by Air New Zealand. After a few more hours of flying, dinner is served. Since I don't really like couscous, I opt for the fish with rice. The food is not bad, but very spicy.

Time flies and we slowly begin our descent for landing. Since it's nighttime, I unfortunately can't see much of the landscape. I disembark the plane and make my way to passport control. I'm quite nervous, but the staff is very friendly and the nervousness quickly subsides. Luckily, my luggage has made it to New Zealand without any scratches. I leave the airport and ask an airport staff member for the best way to get to my hotel, the Heartland Hotel. He takes me back into the airport and calls the hotel to arrange a free shuttle for me. I thank him and eagerly await the pick-up service. After about 20 minutes, I'm picked up by a middle-aged man. We find topics to talk about for the entire ride. I check into my hotel room and fall exhausted into bed. What a journey!

After a 2-hour stop in Singapore, it's time for the last part of my journey to New Zealand. This time my best friend is called 42K and not 51A. Next to me are two middle-aged men. After a short amount of time the so-called breakfast is being served. In my opinion, it should be lunch, because according to New Zealand time, it's around 2 p.m. That's why I order Singapore noodles instead of the omelette. I have made better decisions before. The food isn't very good. The noodles taste very odd and the side is not identifiable. I still don't know what I ate. Probably some type of mushroom.

I'm surprised about the music library. There are some very good bands and songs, such as Panic! At the Disco and The 1975. There are also some interesting movies. My choice falls on Love, Simon and Mulan. My sleeping plan kinda looks like this: My flight is on day, so I try not to sleep at all. My nap at around 3 p.m. fits in my plan. It's a very nice flight. There are almost no turbulences. Have I even mentioned in which plane I'm sitting? It's the Boeing 787 by Air New Zealand. After a couple hours, it's time for dinner. Because I don't really like couscous, I go for the fish with rice. The food isn't that bad, but really spicy.

The time is passing by and we are ready for the landing. Because it's nighttime, I sadly can't see anything of the landscape. I leave the plane and am on my way to the passport control. I am pretty nervous, but the staff is very nice and the nervousness is gone quickly. Luckily my luggage also made it to New Zealand. I leave the airport and ask a member of the airport staff about the best way to get to the Heartland Hotel. He goes back into the airport with me and calls the hotel to get a shuttle for me. I'm thanking him and await the person who'll pick me up. After about 20 minutes I get picked up by a middle-aged guy. We talk on the whole way to the hotel. I check into my room and fall in my bed. What a journey!
