So.... our day started at 5 PM when Zwergi finally woke up after 9 hours of sleep instead of the planned 2-3 hours :-). Following the concierge's recommendation, we took a taxi to the Indy Market. This was a mental challenge for me, the safety junkie. At home, Samuel can only ride in a rear-facing car seat, but here, taxis often don't even have seat belts ;-). I couldn't post the photos in the rear-facing car seat Facebook group, as some people would faint 🙈
Our first impression of the Indy Market was overwhelming. The market was lit up and behind it, there was the last sunset. The market was kind of cool, but honestly, we were a bit overwhelmed. The market is more for locals, and we were pretty much the only tourists there. That means there was a lot of food available, and incredibly cheap too, but everything was in Thai and we were simply overwhelmed and probably too hungry and impatient to get an overview of how everything worked and what was being offered. Nevertheless, it was delicious, although it didn't quite reach the level of the food at the Asiatique Market, and we had no idea what we were actually eating. It was also very noisy because of the restaurants on the edge playing music. Samuel quickly got overwhelmed, so after eating, we went straight back to the hotel. Our plan was to finally splash around in the pool with our little one. But unfortunately, he wasn't as excited about it as we were. So we decided to simply go to the Riverside shopping center right next to the hotel. The shops were already closed, but Samuel was excited about the long corridors where he could walk up and down. We treated ourselves to a midnight snack at the coffee shop, where the first waitress managed to get a smile out of Samuel with her adorable manner. Thai people are generally incredibly fond of children, everyone smiles at Samuel and wants to play with him and make him laugh, and we just hope that they are not offended because he is so shy and rarely reacts. And so, the first full day in Bangkok came to an end. We didn't see much, but Zwergi is the boss here, and we just go with the flow to not overwhelm him completely. Let's see if we are allowed to sleep longer today and see more tomorrow. Good night at 02:05 AM :-)
