Enjoyed the sunny weekend to the fullest.

07.08., 22:30:

Today evening, I only planned how to get all my stuff back to Germany on Sunday, so I prepared a small package for shipping and halfway packed my suitcase. I'll see if I need another small package maybe by the middle of the week.

But that's not what this entry is about, it's about the past weekend that was sunny almost all the time!

On Saturday, I had the choice between the Brighton Pride parade, a huge festival celebrating LGBTQ+ equality, and a trip to the small town of Hastings. I wasn't really in the mood for a carnival-like parade and the crowds that come with it, so I decided to go to Hastings and at the end of the day, I was completely satisfied. 😊

At around 11 am, I made my way to Brighton Train Station and took a 35-minute train ride to Eastbourne, then another 20 minutes to Hastings, and from the train station, I could already see the sea. 'Smaller than Brighton, but honestly even more beautiful' was my impression of Hastings.

I took a lift up to the 'East Hill' and also to the 'West Hill' - where Hastings Castle is located - and I think I took great photos! After a late lunch, I spent more time at the beach before making my way back to the train station at around 5:30 pm. I thought it was beautiful there, but see for yourself! 😋

On Sunday morning, I bought a new tennis racket - I won't attach a picture, you can see it on the court in a week (hopefully)! - Hopefully because I'm somehow slightly injured, but I hope it's 'just' temporary and due to the unfamiliar and not really joint-friendly hardcourt.

On Sunday afternoon, the time had finally come. Ever since the beginning of my journey, I've been waiting for a stadium visit and the wait paid off! A great and even big stadium for a newly-promoted first league team, great facilities, and a nice fan shop quickly make you a fan here. Not to mention: A real top team, which can definitely be trusted to stay in the Premier League! Also not to forget: Typical English football fans, just great!

Brighton & Hove Albion (also called Seagulls) were playing against Atletico Madrid and it was a really good game - both teams with top players, as there's only one week left until the start of the league!

Shortly after kickoff, the home fans started chanting 'Seagulls, Seagulls'. So far, so good. But then when a seagull found its way into the stadium and really EVERYONE made a noise level as loud as when a goal was scored later, it once again reminded me how positively crazy the English are...

The game ended 2-3 in favor of the Seagulls, German player Pascal Groß (formerly of Ingolstadt) among others celebrated as a goal scorer.

Next Saturday, there will be another (sports) highlight to conclude, which will surely perfect my journey - some already know what it is. The rest will find out this weekend! 😋

Don't forget to look at the photos and greetings to Germany!
