After our canal cruise, it was time for some food. We chose 'De Hallen' food hall for this. There is a huge selection of different street food stalls. Conveniently covered, perfect for bad weather. The way there was soon found and so we stuffed ourselves with pulled pork sandwiches, Asian spring rolls, tacos, dumplings and hot dogs. Delicious! As good as the food was and as plentiful the selection, the price was also high. For a portion that hardly exceeds the size of a snack, you pay between 6 and 10 euros here! And then there is also the agony of choice, because before we had even tried a fraction of the delicacies there, we were already full and our wallets were empty. For a one-time experience, it's completely fine, but you shouldn't dine here regularly. Your wallet will thank you!
Completely stuffed, we made our way back to the city center. Here we briefly considered visiting Madame Tussauds, but with the hefty admission price of 25 euros per person, it was too expensive. It is worth mentioning that there is the smell of cannabis on every corner, but that was somehow to be expected. And no, we didn't go to a coffee shop.
Now we slowly made our way back to the car. The drive to the parking lot went smoothly. Here, too, we had to remember to check in and out our parking tickets. At the latest at the ticket machine, you find out if you did everything right. And behold: we only pay one euro for parking for the whole day! Together with the train tickets of 5 euros, that's 6 euros for the entire day. I would say that's completely fine. We could definitely learn a thing or two from this system. It might prevent city centers from being so heavily populated by cars.
Our conclusion about Amsterdam is very positive. Because even though we're not big city people in general, Amsterdam was very pleasant. It is really beautiful for a big city, not too crowded (possibly due to the bad weather) and has many options to escape from the bad weather inside museums, food halls or a covered canal cruise. We would come again!
