Lazy day by the river

Today was travel day. We drove just over four hours from the Ardeche to Entrevaux. We decided on the “no tolls”route which was more of a direct line journey. The views along the way were amazing, as shown in the pictures. The downside is that the route took in a number of small villages and towns. This meant that alongside the spectacular views lots of slowing down to 50km/h and even 30 through the towns and villages that were beautiful, but it meant a lot of speeding up and slowing down. We stopped just outside one of the villages for lunch in a lovely Aire camping-cars which was one of our better lunch stop places. We also drove a lot of roads cut in to the side of hills so it was also very twisty and turny. While it was lovely, we think maybe the monotony of a Peage will be better for the next leg. We are now setup on the site, sitting in the awning while it rains; the rain dotted awning window tells the story.
This site is fairly cheap and has a lake and a river near. There are free kayaks and canoes to use on the lake, though dogs are not permitted on the main beach, but are allowed in the lake round the corner away from the main beach.
After the last 10/10 site we did not get such good vibes about this one, but it will be fine and we will have plenty to do walking, swimming and visiting the local village Entrevaux, for which the Google pictures look nice.
