In the past few days, we have seen and experienced a lot. After our stay in Hunter Valley, we continued our journey northward. We visited Newcastle, Hawks Nest at Myall Lakes National Park, Seal Rocks, Moorland, Coorabakh National Park with its 200m high Ellenborough Falls (the second highest waterfall in Australia), Dunbogan, Camden Head, Port Macquarie, Smoky Cape Lighthouse at Hat Head National Park, and South West Rocks with its stunning Little Bay.
In Hawks Nest, we transformed our hippie camper into a beautiful Bavarian blue and white flower meadow. If you're going to be a hippie, you might as well go all the way. ;-) However, the flower decorations were not only admired by us, but also by a young huntsman spider. It paid a surprise visit to Vroni, who was driving our camper at a speed of 100 km/h at that moment, and flew directly onto her arm from the sunshade. An adult huntsman spider is one of the largest spiders in the world. It can reach a size of 16 - 20 cm and only bites when provoked. However, on this stretch of road, it had to leave the camper with a few flip flop hits.
In Moorland, we met Mike, who spontaneously invited us to a BBQ dinner. Mike, a very calm and sociable retiree, lives in a great house on a large property somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Moorland. He is self-sufficient, has three cows, two calves, three chickens, a horse grazing directly in the garden, mango trees, pineapple plants, and much more. Wallabies were hopping around behind his house with their young. When his friend Peter was there, we had grilled steak, shrimp, and Shiraz from Hunter Valley. It was a really fun evening with many new impressions.
