From Cape Leeuwin to Perth

Pubblicato: 30.10.2016

Shortly after Augusta you reach Cape Leeuwin with its distinctive white lighthouse. Here the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean meet. The lighthouse village has been beautifully restored and is now an open-air museum, while the lighthouse itself is fully automated.

From here, we drove north along the Cape Coast, passing Margaret River, to Cape Naturaliste. Along the way, you can visit various limestone caves or sample fine drops in wineries around Margaret River. At Cape Naturaliste, you can even watch whales from the shore. We actually saw fins!

On the way to Perth, the town of Busselton is worth a visit. A seaside resort not far from Perth, beautifully refurbished, a huge beach, and as an attraction the Busselton Jetty, an almost 2 km long wooden jetty on which even a little train runs. Originally built due to the shallow sea depth to transport goods from the ship to the town by train, it is now a recreational area for visitors to walk and fish on.

During the drive, we noticed once again the many nice rest areas, which are located in great locations at viewpoints or on the coast. Always with seating, often with a roof, gas grills and toilets. And the best thing is, these facilities are almost always in impeccable and clean condition. Why doesn't something like this work in Germany?
