You shall not pass! :O :D (Day 197 + 198 of the world trip)

Not much happening here but mini-updates are a nice pastime :p :D

Yesterday we went for a walk in the morning and passed by the beginning of the viewpoint trail. Unlike the previous day, there was no police there, but since I had muscle soreness from the workout and we didn't have anything to drink, I suggested that we go up the next day^^

After the morning walk, we spent most of the time watching YouTube videos, and at noon we went out again for a cinnamon roll. Then back to YouTube and in the evening we went to Wachuma, where we ordered a bowl to go - healthy and delicious is not bad every now and then^^

The embassy sent another email with a form that can be shown at the border with Mexico to enter for free. At the same time, there was still a warning against traveling to Mexico (at least that's how it sounded to me in the text :p).

To fall asleep, we watched "Divergent" Part 1 and 2 in Spanish, and we were excited about every vocabulary we recognized :D

This morning we had to extend our booking and move to a new room because ours was now occupied. The new room has a double bed, a single bed, and two bunk beds. So there is room for 5 people, but the price is the same as for the other room. We asked if it's really okay that we occupy the room, because theoretically, they are denying groups of 5 people, but yep. It was desired that way! :)

The new room doesn't have a window to the outside and the bathroom door sometimes comes off the hinge, but otherwise it's also fine and it will probably be suitable for at least the next two nights ;-)

After the move, we were motivated to go to the viewpoint. Again, a motorcycle was parked at the bottom, but there was no policeman there, so we happily started climbing the stairs.

Although it was not steep at all, I found it super exhausting and quickly ran out of breath, while Jonas took some more photos.

At some point, a policeman came towards us, holding his cap in front of his belly, on which you could read "Policia". He informed us that we are not allowed to go to the viewpoint, which was quite disappointing because we had probably already completed more than half or ¾ of the ascent and now we had no "reward" (=view) :O ;-)

So we went back down the stairs and on the road there were policemen again from the drug control including a drug-sniffing dog. We wonder if the viewpoint is closed because of Corona or because of some drug stories :p

After a short break at the accommodation to kill some time, we went to Wachuma for lunch, where we treated ourselves to a smoothie and a piece of vegan cheesecake <3

With our sweet snack, we sat down on a bench in the park and watched the pigeons. Crazy. We have come so far that we watch pigeons in the park for entertainment!! :D :D :D

We gave them names. Gertrud has feathers growing on her claw, Karl-Heinz has white tail feathers, Peter often stands on one leg, and Max and Moritz have reddish-brown plumage. Yep. That's our new hobby :p

Before we went to buy the smoothie, we received an email from the embassy. Currently, there is no information about repatriation flights to Germany, so it is assumed that they will not take place in the near future.

Yep. That's exactly what we wanted to hear -.-

Now there was already the third list into which we should enter our data, and now we have to see. The words didn't sound very motivating, and even crossing the border into Mexico doesn't sound so attractive. I once checked the current departures and international flights hardly fly from Mexico. So it wouldn't make much sense for us to travel there...

If necessary, we just have to wait until the airport opens again here and then we take the next flight that flies to an attractive destination ;-)

As far as we know, a return to Germany is currently not very promising with a possible curfew, short-time work, and so on... We'll see!

To keep up morale, we had pizza in the evening instead of something healthy :p

In the long run, we probably can't keep up the "one pizza, one plant-based wholefood" routine, but for the moment it was okay and also good for us :D

But we're still doing well and we've become real phone addicts, but well. You occupy yourself with what (easily) is available, and in all of this, we still have each other <3

Let's see what the next few days bring - we joke daily that we will make it to the viewpoint TODAY :D :D
