The streets of New York, a big city jungle, bustling with activity, but little light and another world that unfolds above people's heads. An excursion to Coney Island offered a welcome change. Open space, the sea, and a sky painted as if by an artist. Only... the amusement park and the entertainment mile are closed outside of the season. Clearly... now.
Nevertheless, I had fries at Nathan's, a New York hot dog institution. Afterwards, I took a long walk along the promenade to a neighborhood called Little Odessa. Old Russians, meeting at the beach with longing looks, staring into the distance together.
In the evening, I was invited to an art opening. The New Yorkers welcomed me warmly and with interest. Starting a conversation was easy, otherwise we just talked about Corona.
Afterwards, a nightcap at the Nowhere Bar. There I started a conversation with Markus from Pennsylvania and Michel from Serbia or Berlin (!). After getting to know each other, the topic of US politics soon came up. Oh dear, the poor things. Oh dear, poor me. Honest, European arrogance or appeasing trivialization? I stayed diplomatic.
The evening ended at a club that was described to me as 'BERLIN-y'. There are no pictures of it.
UPDATE: I have added a text to the post 'First Explorations'.
