It's raining again or still when we wake up. We missed breakfast. While looking for a replacement, we pass by a place called "Opa" and stay there for coffee and a small bite. Even if the coffee is sold here in some selected special varieties, they don't suit my taste. I have to remember Texas Pecan - that's just not good.
Since it doesn't seem to be getting dry outside, we first drive to a mall, go to the cinema and watch Rio2. Nice movie. Then we look for more distractions in the neighboring hall. They're showing "The Other Woman" with Cameron Diaz. My god, what a rarely bad movie! After 45 minutes of hope for improvement, we leave the hall and stroll through Macy's and other stores before driving back to downtown.
Near the Capitol, we find a cozy Italian restaurant, which is almost empty. The pizza is super delicious. The evening ends in Austin style: We drive to Broken Spoke, one of those typical Dance Halls where the locals dance their Two-Step to Honky-Tonk music.
The shack is a wooden building, low ceiling, in the middle a dance floor filled with people of all kinds. On either side of the dance floor there are simple wooden tables and benches. You get the beer at the bar and then we sit there, listen to the cool music and watch the dancers.
People in business dress, teenagers, old-timers - everyone dances together. The main thing is to wear Western Boots and many men also wear their Stetson. There are no tourists to be seen, which is surprising because this establishment has been mentioned frequently in travel guides.
When we come out, it's pouring rain again. At the end of this relaxing day, which had no more than 13°C in store for us, we finally fall tired into bed. The weather forecast on the internet predicts that tomorrow night the historic low temperature of 6°C will be reached! That's not Texan either...
