After a comfortable flight of 10,317 km (1/4 of the Earth's circumference), we landed in Singapore at 05:30 (local time) with care. As a first step, we put on our shorts because with temperatures over 25° and a humidity of about 80%, it's oppressively humid - that's the tropics. We then took the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit = Metro) to the Parc Sovereign Hotel, with friendly support and advice from the locals.
After dropping off our bags and emptying our backpacks, we headed along the Marina Promenade around the famous Marina Bay. Along the way, we also had a breakfast break with half-cooked eggs and toast. During our 6-hour walk, we visited, among other things, the Formula 1 track, the Marina Sands Mall, the skyscrapers, and the Fort Canning Park. The diversity of impressions on the first day in Singapore is enormous - this is also thanks to the structure of the city with characteristic and totally different neighborhoods such as Little India, Chinatown, Arab Street, the colonial district, Singapore River, or Marina Bay. Truly a multicultural city-state!
After more than 18 km of sightseeing (i.e. walking!!), we could finally check into the hotel. By chance, we discovered the rooftop pool of our hotel (*big smile*). As a reward for our 30-hour day without sleep, we enjoyed a swim in the hotel pool before the first tropical rain shower hit us and banished us to our hotel room. Tired, we fell into bed at 17:00 and fell asleep extremely quickly despite the many sounds of the big city...
