One thing we both can't quite cope with is the constant background noise almost everywhere. The elevator beeps, the subway has been playing the same ads up and down for months, hidden speakers in the historical park emit old sounds, the shopping center drowns out any conversation, each restaurant in the food court has its own soundtrack, street vendors blare out their offers in a loop from simple recorders and of course have to outdo each other. Even when hiking through the hills of Hangzhou and Suzhou, you can occasionally find speakers along the paths blaring Chinese guitar sounds at exaggerated volumes. So let's praise those who have good earplugs.
