Where the capital of Thailand once was

Pubblicato: 02.01.2024

Today we visited the former capital of Thailand: Ayutthaya. Over 400 temples bear witness to the city's heyday before the Burmese came and took over the city. The ruins that remain today are nevertheless impressive. Again, many Thais dressed in traditional clothing before visiting the temple complex. This in turn allowed you to immerse yourself even more in this fascinating culture.
The area is huge and you can't reach everything on foot. That's why we often took a tuktuk. Next time we would rent a bike despite the left-hand traffic. Other tourists rode elephants. We reject something like this because, in our opinion, it is not animal-friendly.
We took the train back to Bangkok. That was also an experience. Simon had a very special seat. He sat between the wagon and the locomotive. In the evening we packed our things, as it was the last day in Thailand for a long time. Tomorrow we'll take the bus 8 hours further southeast to Cambodia. You'll find out here tomorrow whether we can cross the border.
