Today we explored (of course in the rain) another film set from 'The Lord of the Rings': Rivendell. A magical forest section with a small remnant of the set. Then we took a little hike. It led us over a suspension bridge, past thousand-year-old tree giants and right through the primeval / rainforest. Beautiful and only half as wet thanks to the protective canopy of leaves!
Due to the weather conditions, the next film set was hardly recognizable. Because from the gravel bed on the banks of a river (where Brego picks up the injured Aragorn), nothing could be seen due to the rushing brown current (formerly a river). Instead, we made friends with Poppy the cuddly alpaca and had animal company while looking for the right spot.
Once we arrived in Wellington, we visited the Te Papa National Museum. A great and very interactive museum about World War 1, the Maori culture, and nature. We spent hours here. The rest of the time, we explored Wellington on foot...what can I say: New Zealand is not famous for its beautiful cities (:
Tomorrow night we will take the ferry to the South Island!
