One last waking up in Emma in the great outdoors... The farewell is approaching.

We took a walk to nearby caves, where dance events used to take place, and to the beach in a light drizzle. Black sand, rugged coast, and a roaring Tasman Sea. New Zealand showed its rugged and untouched side. But then it was time to say goodbye and head into the big city. We booked a room with Ashna in a shared apartment with 5 people, a dog, and two rabbits.

After cleaning and preparing Emma, we went to the car market the next day. After a slow start and some rain, we finally found 2 interested parties for Emma, whose promises arrived the next morning. We handed Emma over to a young German couple who were looking forward to her. With a tear in our eye, we watched her go. Safe travels, Emma!

The next few days, we gave Auckland a second chance - this time without jet lag - and we were positively surprised by how much the city has to offer. Beautiful green areas, a great university campus, a beautiful harbor... We took the ferry to Rangitoto Island, a volcanic island located 8km from Auckland, which emerged from the sea in a tremendous eruption just 600 years ago. We walked across solidified magma fields, climbed into lava caves, and enjoyed the view of Auckland from the edge of the crater, which is now overgrown with trees. A truly beautiful conclusion to an incredible journey.
