12.02 - 15.02: EDU-DREAM

Pubblicato: 20.02.2018

This week was all about the topic EDU-Dream (education dream). We were grouped into five teams and had three days to create our perfect dream school. In my group, there were three Belgians (Charlotte, Lisa, Katoo), the Japanese Aoi, and the Swiss Julia.

On the first day, we filled a large blackboard with all our ideas. Despite coming from different countries, we all had roughly the same ideas, which surprised me. The cool thing was that the Danish students still have holidays, so we were able to use the entire school building just for ourselves. Each group had their own room and could spread out there for three days.

The assignment was once again left very open. The only things we had to integrate into our presentation in the end were a few TED talks (which are videos on the internet about education/school), one or two well-known educators (Otto Solomon, Grundtvig), and the active participation of the audience.

On the second day, we watched these TED talks and chose two educators. We also started designing our poster. We divided the various tasks well and each of us completed a part.

Today, we completed our poster. (We definitely needed 6 hours to get this thing done!)

Since there are rarely grades here in Denmark, we had to evaluate ourselves as a group and give ourselves a grade according to the Danish scale. We decided on a 10, which is equivalent to 'Good'. We also had to indicate the topics we had discussed for a long time or could not agree on. We had three things we couldn't really agree on.
- Wear shoes or slippers?
- Wear school uniform?
- Use smartphones/laptops in class?

Although we couldn't agree, we found a great solution that worked well for all of us. All in all, the group work was really great and we worked well together :-)

Today was a very long and exhausting day. Each group had 45 minutes to present their dream school to everyone else. Although all the contributions were really great and creative, it became a bit tiring after a while to always listen attentively. But it was really cool to see what came out in the different groups :-)
