The first week of work is over and although many things are still new and some are very unfamiliar, we have settled in well and spend our free time with Paraguayan friends, with beer at the watering hole or with Tereré in the sun :-)
Yesterday afternoon we finally received a visit from the Filly girls and after we had comfortably exchanged our experiences of the past few days at the watering hole, we went to the big volleyball tournament. For me, it is very difficult to put the atmosphere there into words. We could already hear the spectators cheering and cheering from a distance. The sports hall - rather a small stadium - was bathed in green light from the outside and many people from the colonies were gathered to support their respective teams. We were equipped with green jerseys from the Menno Sports Club and cheered on the teams from Loma Plata! Everywhere in the spectator stands, you could see people drinking Tereré and I would compare it to the typical beer drinking in a German stadium. I still couldn't find the famous stadium sausage, but there were plenty of sunflower seeds consumed. Almost every spectator had a handful of seeds in their hands incessantly. The shells were "thrown" on the ground, sometimes landing in the Guampa (which is the Tereré cup) or lovingly placed in the hair as a decoration - greetings to Derlis! Even though the last game didn't go well for the MSV, it was a beautiful evening!
