8th Day - Storms River

Pubblicato: 21.09.2017

As announced yesterday, today's program included the long-awaited, already booked Ziplining tour. On the way to this tour, we made a short stop at Old Nick Village. This is a collection of small houses that all sell different regional products. I had read various reviews about this 'place' before. Some talk about individual, charming shops and others about tourist rip-offs. We really liked it surprisingly well. Perfect for a short stroll! I even found something: A self-made hat made of Merion wool for about 10 EUR. After all, winter is coming.

A little later, we continued to the announced Ziplining tour. This tour includes 10 cable cars up to 20m high through the forests of the Tsitsikamma area. The length of the cable car routes increased from time to time. But not only the length, but also the speed of the route steadily increased. I'm telling you: during the fastest ride, I was really scared 🤣 We were lucky with our group of 5 other people and our coach. The tour operator Canopy was super professional. I have rarely been so convinced by organizers. After the actual tour, we had a small bite to eat. We could watch a few video clips of what we just experienced in the group. We could really have used your action camera, Sarah😎

After the meal, we went to our accommodation, which coincidentally is also under the care of Canopy Tours. I read on the Internet in advance that some couples were lucky enough to be able to stay in the accommodation for 6 people alone. Last night, I checked in advance to see if we could spontaneously book the accommodation. This was not the case. So we were all the more surprised when we found out that we are currently the only ones occupying this big hut. Hermann looks a bit lonely at the dining table, don't you think? Everyone come over quickly - there are still exactly 4 sleeping places available 😁

After moving into our accommodation, we set off again to see the so-called 'Big Tree', an 800-year-old tree. The circumference of this tree is about 9m. It is a so-called 'Yellowwood Tree' - if someone wants to google that. Hermann could certainly make cool furniture out of it😛

Tomorrow we will spend the whole day in Tsitsikamma National Park. A little bit of hiking...
