Time is passing. Our time here in America is now limited. It is undoubtedly an incredibly exciting and thrilling time. We have driven from Alaska back to Canada. As fate would have it: after 4 weeks and our round trip through Canada, we will encounter: Wolfi, who is cycling, who is from Vienna. What a joy. Just before Smithers. We make arrangements. We had a great spot by the lake with tire changes, a perfectly ordinary anchoring day: taking apart the car and so on🥰
We arrange to meet Wolfi in Smithers and celebrate Jörg's birthday. There was plenty of red wine. Sorry Wolfi, if it got a bit difficult afterwards.
Yes, our route was also thwarted by wildfires. The Glacier National Park was closed. Jasper, where we just a few weeks ago had a great time walking around and eating well, is half burned down. So sad.
Our path takes us back to the Pacific. What can I say: America, Alaska, Canada, we are on a camping journey. I have mentioned this so many times before. We find camping spots for free or for little money at the most beautiful locations one can imagine. At lakes or rivers. Sometimes it is hard to bear this idyll.
We three are now driving back and forth through this vast indescribable land.
In between, one or the other of us has a moment of doubt and wonders: What am I doing here???
Our four-legged roommate also thinks he can eat anything he hunts. Then he struggles for a few days.
Oh yes, even when Freddy lost his air track/tracer // of course I only realized that hours later, Jörg and I had fun geocaching.
We are now heading further towards the Atlantic. It is getting warm.
Today is a special day. It's my birthday. Jörgi found a beautiful place for us. My Birthday Garden. The connection is still not great. With Anke, my dearest twin sister, we managed to toast at 4 PM/ the time zone has changed to 8 hours. At midnight in Hameln, it was 4 PM here at RoseLake. This is fun. I can celebrate longer.
It's a bit spooky. We are allowed to have campfires again. After weeks of absolute prohibition…
It is lovely. I appreciate every birthday wish that reaches me.
Thank you all
We are already planning: at the end of August, we will visit our old friend (old because we know him from our Düsseldorf days) in South Carolina // we are so looking forward to it.
Now, good night. As I said, I have turned 57 years old, and I feel good about it. That was a long time coming report from us:😘AMERKA😘
All the best
Anette, Jörg, and Freddy the Killercat
