A day full of change

After enjoying a relaxed dinner on the beach yesterday and seeing the other panicked Europeans & the news, we decided to rebook. After a long and painstaking search, we finally found something after a few hours. We actually found a flight from Lombok to Bali on Wednesday and we are more than happy about it. Because when there were two earthquakes again last night, it really got to us. We don't feel well and safe here anymore, so we are so glad to finally get away from here. Because you can unfortunately no longer enjoy the time here. All the time you hear sirens, all restaurants and shops are closed and you can't really go on excursions here anymore. Therefore, on Wednesday we will be back in Kuta- Bali, spend two days there and then continue to Germany on Friday at 00:05. Fortunately, since we fly with Emirates, changing our long-haul flight was not a big problem and also very cheap. We are happy to be back in Germany in three days and to have solid ground under our feet again.

But one thing we can say, we were also really lucky that we were already off the Gilis on Sunday. The three islands have now been completely evacuated and the boats were at least four times fuller than on Sunday with us. The earthquake has left visible traces on the three islands, as we have seen in the news. All accommodations have collapsed, stores have been looted, and hundreds of people are waiting on the beach for a boat. Happy that we will soon be back on Bali and shortly afterwards in Germany again, we try to spend the last day here comfortably on the beach. We really hope that the tectonic plates have calmed down again and that we will hopefully experience a day on Lombok without an earthquake.
