To avoid hiking in the midday heat, we set off early to Ubirr, to see the Aboriginal Rock Paintings.
Upon arrival, we first protected ourselves from the sun with plenty of sunscreen and a hat, and filled our bottles with cool tap water. The short circular trail led us through the bush, past fur wallabies, to large rock monoliths that partly overshadowed the path.
Halfway through the hike, we climbed a big rock mountain, from which we enjoyed a wonderful view over the Stone Country. Before the sun could fry eggs on the rock plateau, we descended again and made our way back to the car and onwards to Darwin.
Upon arriving in the largest city of the Northern Territory, we checked in to a backpacker motel and grabbed only the essentials to head straight to the Mindil Beach Night Market.
At the market located right on the beach, we enjoyed live music, watched fascinating whip and fire shows, tasted various national delicacies, strolled between various art stands, and of course witnessed a super romantic and cheesy sunset.
Before the market closed its doors, we were thrilled by a band consisting of a didgeridoo player and a drummer, who got the colorful audience dancing.
With the rhythms in our blood and the music in our ears, we ended this once again successful day.
