After a 12-hour beauty sleep, we started early in the morning towards Spit. There, we started a little hiking tour towards Manly Beach, which is as famous as a walk through the Vienna Woods. (Quote: Erich W.)
We started in Spit, a small suburb of Sydney where the wealthier population of the city lives and every villa comes with its own yacht. Right after the first turns of the path, we were greeted by a sparkling turquoise sea, with a forest that seemed like a jungle to us on its banks.
In the thicket of trees, we discovered native birds and lizards that you only see in Schönbrunn Zoo otherwise. The flora also created a tropical house-like atmosphere, which made it even more surreal for us.
After about 2 hours of hiking through bushes and lots of sandstone, we took a little lunch break at one of the probably most beautiful picnic spots in the world. There, we had a wonderful view over the coast and the Pacific Ocean.
Our tour ended with fish and chips and calamari in a small restaurant in Manly Harbor. Before taking the ferry back to the city center, we made a little detour to visit the popular beach.
In the evening, to celebrate Helene's birthday, we went to the Sydney Opera and the Opera Bar there. We treated ourselves to a Sydney Slim x2 with the evening skyline in view.
A truly successful day! h&h
