21st day: going back home

Pubblicato: 03.07.2019

Unfortunately, the day has come when we are going back. Ben has been indicating multiple times every day for a while now that if it were up to him, we wouldn't have to hurry back home.

We are glad that he is feeling good everywhere, as there are many adventures waiting for him.

We wake up around 7 am and after breakfast, we usually leave the campsite around 9:30 am.

The boys wouldn't be able to handle such a long journey during the day, so we went in 3 parts.

Our first stop was in Kaltenkirchen (just before Hamburg), about 100 km away. We spent the morning in an XXL Lutz furniture store. It turned out that we accidentally stumbled upon the store, as it opened that day and had a lot of special offers.

We were just browsing at first, while Ben was jumping from one couch to another... Adam was wearing a mask😀

We accidentally discovered that there was a play area for kids. It was very impressive, with a lot of toys and a huge space, so it was more like an indoor playground.

Ben had a great time, even though it wasn't really his thing. He was probably the youngest there, as it was recommended from the age of 2.5. Adam was wearing a mask on the carpet, and he also had a great time.

We were able to have lunch there, and then we had a coffee and some pastries. Since it was the opening promotion, the pastries were very cheap, but everything was delicious. We stopped there a total of three times, and we filled ourselves up.

We continued our journey after a nap for the boys. There was a lot of traffic, and they were building the highway in many places. We were slowly moving, even though we weren't in a hurry, it was annoying to just stand there.

There is an enormous truck traffic in Germany. There was a construction site where there were 7 km of trucks standing. Fortunately, they have a separate lane, otherwise we would still be stuck there.

We spontaneously had our second stop at the Hanover airport. We have been to Stuttgart airport many times before, to watch planes and there is always a playground for kids. This time we also found something for Ben to do. The time went by quickly.

At around 7 pm, after dinner and some relaxing games in a parking lot, we continued our journey to reach the remaining 550 km and get home.

The traffic was getting better, so we were making good progress. My little navigator fought against falling asleep at first, but somehow he managed to overcome it. So there was always someone to entertain him on the way.😀

We went through very beautiful and diverse landscapes, but unfortunately, we didn't have much time to look around.

Mom and Adam's screams entertained us. Unfortunately, Adam didn't handle the trip well, for some reason he couldn't sleep and was very cranky.

We arrived home around 1 am. The boys were completely awake and quickly turned the living room into a battlefield. It was always like this when we returned from Hungary. They need about an hour to get tired again and then their brains start working again. It was the same this time.

After a short sleep, Adam woke everyone up around 7 am😍
