Today we want to explore the cultural capital. The brochures at the hotel didn't provide much information, so we went to the tourist office. There, the city revealed itself for the first time, because the address was completely wrong. We must have picked up an old brochure and had to walk almost the entire shopping street, which by the way is the longest in Luxembourg, to find the office that had moved last year. But even here, they couldn't recommend anything specific. So, we had imagined the cultural capital a little differently. Out of the approximately 2200 cultural events spread throughout the year, there was none that really appealed to us or it was the wrong time. So, all we could do was explore the city! With the help of a simple city map, we could visit art objects that were scattered everywhere. Under the motto 'Nothing is Permanent', there were about 25 locations to be found. We couldn't classify all the art, and in some cases, historical buildings (which were unfortunately mostly closed) were also included, but it allowed us to see the city from completely different perspectives that we wouldn't have visited otherwise. And we are slowly getting the right feeling for the vacation. There are small cafes or brasseries everywhere with seating under shady trees or umbrellas. People are already sitting in the morning with a drink, chatting or reading or using the internet. They simply have time and seem to enjoy it. Especially when it's more than 30°C! And we, we took our steps, in the truest sense 'in the sweat of our faces', until we also ended up in the shade. A glass of special gin mix and a beer rounded off the tour. There is also something like a nap and reading sessions in the shady room. By the way, this division, doing something in the morning until around 2 pm and then returning to the accommodation with a packed lunch, and let's see what the evening brings, will remain for the next few days, at least as long as it's so hot! In the evening, we sat in Brasserie K 116 and let the Luxembourgish cuisine come to us. The fries and the burger were certainly not truly local, but everyone eats like this here and the menu often doesn't offer more! Only for a lot of money, but that's another topic. We made our way home early, and I usually go to bed very early, while Karin relaxes and reads a lot. That's also vacation!
