Day 133: After Thailand, I returned to Sydney and took the night bus to Melbourne on the same evening. Arriving there, a little tired and confused from sleeping on the plane and bus, I explored the city and discovered that Melbourne combines skyscrapers with beaches and green spaces. A truly impressive combination.
After two days in the bustling and seemingly never-sleeping city, I already felt the need to escape from the people and hostel life there. A solution was quickly found because a great treasure lies right outside Melbourne's gates - the Great Ocean Road.
We rented a car and the three of us set off (with people I had met locally).
We drove through remote coastal areas, saw a sleeping koala, the twelve apostles at sunset, and slept either in the rental car or in my tent.
All in all, a scenic and sometimes a little exhausting human experience.
From there, I flew back to Perth on the day after our return from Melbourne, and since I didn't want to pay for half a night in the hostel (my flight was very early in the morning), I simply slept at the airport. Also an interesting experience. :)
More coming soon...
