Geysers El Tatio

Pubblicato: 10.04.2019

Geographically speaking, the geysers actually belong to San Pedro, but if you drive through Calama, you have a 100 km detour but the luxury of a paved road. In addition, you should be there at sunrise because that's when the geysers are still smoking in the cold, which means you have to drive in the dark. By the way, the geyser field is located at about 4,300 meters, and since our last night at 4,000 meters was not very successful, we didn't want to spend another night at such a high altitude. Benni and Bettina agreed and we found a place to sleep on the way at about 3,500 meters, and now the altimeter app is the most used app on my phone.

Ring, Ring, Ring, the alarm clock is already ringing at 5 o'clock, so that we can be at the geyser field on time for sunrise. Of course, all the tourist buses from San Pedro de Atacama had the same idea, but since there are many geysers there, it's spread out pretty well. After the buses left, we relaxed in a hot spring.

By now, we can say that we have acclimated to the high altitude, although it's still difficult to do sports, normal movements are already easier.
