From Westport, we followed the Buller River along to Murchinson towards Nelson. A beautiful road, with the Buller River mostly on the left side, many switchbacks and constant ups and downs. Especially before Murchinson, it goes down into the valley for a long time.
For relaxation, there was a small stop at the Buller Gorge Swingbridge. With over 100m, the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in New Zealand.

Did I say for relaxation? That's how it was actually intended. But something convinced me to cross this bridge; the raging Buller River 20-30m below me... As long as you are alone on the bridge, everything is okay! But as soon as there are several people on it, it starts to shake quite a bit.
I made it, even twice, because I had to go back ;-)
Just before Murchinson, I made a short detour to the Muria Falls. I was strongly recommended to visit it. The detour was worth it.

From Murchinson, the journey was rather unspectacular.
As was the arrival in Nelson.
Except for the fact that the vines here reach almost to the sea.
You don't know that in Germany.
However, my accommodation in Nelson was very spectacular! So much so that it deserves its own entry. So there is more to come.
