It never rains on the north side of Ikaria

Today, right after waking up, I noticed something was different. And somehow it always surprises me how soundly I sleep, or how insensitive I am to the sound of the sea. The surf in the small bay below my balcony was really quite loud.

Apart from the mountains, the greenery, the sea, and that lovely little town of Armenistis, the view was pretty much like home. I don't have much to say about the day, except that for the first time on this holiday I didn't go in the sea and that I couldn't find the Mikis Theodorakis Museum.

Around 5:00 PM I even got a few drops of rain on me.

But somehow it's just nice again right now. I'm sitting in "my" tavern. I had specially memorized the sentence “Θα ήθελα μια μεγάλη μπίρα, ένα ούζο και τον μενού”, but I couldn’t even say it because the big beer was immediately put in front of me.

As the taverna slowly filled to capacity, the waitress's daughters played with the little kitten I'd already shared here. I got my ouzo, and once again I experienced just how special the atmosphere in a taverna like this can be. Everyone here, locals and tourists alike, seems to truly appreciate how beautiful it is and what a privilege it is to experience something like this. After almost a week here, I'm practically as happy as the boss himself when someone (99%) raves about the food.

The weather is supposed to be similar to today tomorrow, but then I'll get a bit more sunshine for the last few days here.

To be honest, this post is also a bit of procrastination. I'm stuck down a rabbit hole with Mikis Theodorakis and I'm not quite sure how to structure the text about him yet. Although I'm really keen to write about him and his time on Ikaria. But I expect there's more to come.
