Already in the night, it becomes clear to me that there will be no sightseeing flight over Kauai for me. I can't walk and have strong pain. At breakfast, it is clear that I have to have my foot examined in the hospital. Damn it. This is definitely not how I imagined my vacation.
I am treated very friendly in the hospital. I only see nice staff. My foot is X-rayed and my doctor, the friendly Doctor Hemmingway (I wonder if he is a descendant of Ernest Hemmingway?), tells me that the ankle is not broken, but one of the ligaments has a tear. I receive crutches, a "walking foot", and equipped with a prescription for strong painkillers, and the realization that the vacation is practically over for me, we go back to the house, because the rest of the group is already waiting there to take the flight over Kauai.
Very very sad, I let them go and make myself comfortable on the balcony of our house with a beautiful view.
In the evening, I then see the pictures of this beautiful flight. The Napali Coast, the Waimea Canyon, waterfalls, rainbows. Paradise from above.
I am happy for the others, but I am extremely unhappy myself.
In the evening in bed, I think, maybe God arranged it like this because he wants us to come back to Hawaii again.
Hey dear God, you can bet on it. We will come back.
Everyone spends the last day in paradise lounging around and packing their bags, and I have made it my goal to be afraid before the flight to San Francisco. Not so great for the last day in Hawaii. In the evening, we have another delicious meal at Tahiti Nui.
Tomorrow we're starting our long journey home.
