From Glasgow to Dublin: A monster, a ship and the Peace Wall in Belfast⛴️

Pubblicato: 20.09.2023

Good morning, travel friends

We left the Normandy Hotel in Glasgow early in the morning to catch the ferry from Cairnryan to Belfast. Our journey was coming to an end as we left Scotland and headed to Ireland via Northern Ireland.
But before boarding the ferry we stopped at a snack bar in Girvan. There we enjoyed breathtaking views of the Irish Sea and the Scottish landscape. Our guide Robert took the opportunity to take a group photo and capture this special memory. Unfortunately we couldn't find the Loch Ness Monster on our trip to Scotland - maybe next time.

We were lucky on the Stena Superfast VIII ferry to Belfast and got a great window seat with a view of the direction of travel. But things got a bit hectic when I got out and I forgot my jacket on board. Well, a forgotten jacket is the price of a great view, right?

After getting off the ferry, we explored Belfast on a city tour and took a short walk through the city center. A highlight was the stop at the former site of the Titanic shipyard. There stood an impressive building that replicated the Titanic's bow in its original size - an impressive reminder of maritime history.

Later we received an informative explanation about the Ireland-Northern Ireland conflict. Our bus driver stopped at the peace wall and we were able to sign for peace with our signature. It was an emotional moment that reminded us of the importance of advocating for peace, especially in times of burgeoning conflict.

And now it's official: Guide Robert has told us that we will be staying in an airport hotel in Dublin. Tomorrow morning at 3:20 a.m. we go to Dublin Airport to catch the Lufthansa plane to Frankfurt at 5:55 a.m.

In the hope that we can enjoy a farewell drink with our new friends and a quiet, albeit short, night, I say goodbye until the last travel report tomorrow. We are already looking forward to the euro, the EU, kilometers instead of miles and finally to home. It was an exciting journey full of unforgettable experiences, that's for sure.

Stay tuned, my friends! 🚢📸
