One of our daily activities is the Russian class. We attend this class from 9:45 am to 11:20 am and from 11:30 am to 1:05 pm at the Voronezh University. When you stand in front of the building, you don't necessarily expect that Russian is being taught there. It was an unfamiliar sight for us. On the first day, we had to hand over our passports to enter the building through a turnstile. In the following days, we didn't need our passports anymore, but Mr. Makk always had to exchange a few words with the nice lady at the entrance to allow us to enter. Our classes take place in small rooms, which are more than sufficient for our small group. However, instead of chairs, we sit on benches, which was an unfamiliar sight for us. With the help of our teacher, we work on our pronunciation, grammar, and correct emphasis on words and sentences. Our classes have a large speaking component and since we are only nine people, everyone receives individual attention. At the end of the first 'school' day, students came to us. Now we were forced to apply what we had learned in order to communicate. This worked better or worse, but it was very exciting. But we had the most fun learning Russian songs. We worked on 'миленький ты мой' which translates to 'My beloved'. After we expressed our wish to sing 'крокодила Гены', we were actually allowed to do so. Singing and the conversations were a good way to relax and brought us all a lot of joy.
