We arrive in Singapore at 6:50 am the next morning and are greeted at the exit by Mrs. Eva Gnida and Mr. Reinhard Orlinski, who take us to the hotel. Upon arrival, we learn that we can only check into our room at 3:00 pm. And Eva realizes with a big shock that she has forgotten her bag with all travel documents in the shuttle. Thank God we have a phone number and can reach the shuttle service. They promise us that the driver will bring the bag! He actually does after half an hour and Eva's heart is relieved!!! Unthinkable...
We can shower and change in the sauna area. It's quite warm and very humid.
Then we set out to explore Singapore. Unplanned, we head towards Marina and are amazed, amazed, amazed. Skyscrapers line up bigger-higher-greater. We immediately take a boat tour on the Singapore River, enjoy the breeze and get a good first orientation. Then, after a cold cola, we continue on foot. We admire the Marina Sands Hotel from below and the mall from the inside. Compared to that, Breuningerland is a mom-and-pop shop.
Actually, it's not bad not being able to go straight to the hotel room. Reinhard is not tempted to take a nap and the jet lag doesn't stand a chance.
Part 2
Afterwards, we walk to the hotel for check-in. Since Reinhard complained about the late check-in time, we get an upgrade and have a room on the 13th floor with a great view. After another shower, we set out again. Actually, with the hop-on, hop-off bus, but it doesn't come! It takes a while for us to realize that these buses only run until 7:00 pm. Jet lag greets us!!!
So we make our way to the illuminated trees and we have to hurry! It gets dark very quickly.
Arriving at the park, they greet us with a light show set to a wild mix of classical music. Of course, we want to walk to the tree canopy. But there are no more tickets, and to make matters worse, the path is closed the next day due to elevator maintenance. How stupid!!!!
So we watch a amateur play with a dragon and then go to the park snack bar for food!
As the highlight of the day, following Ingbert's recommendation, we treat ourselves to a beer at the highest microbrewery in the world -LeVel 33- in the 33rd floor. A delicious beer! Sensational view over the Marina.
After showering, we sleep like rocks!!!
