A city fit for a queen!
A city I explored today.
And this city has already wrapped me around its finger with a visit to an alternative shop - in the truest sense of the word, because I bought myself a new ring in this shop. And as well as a great shell lacquer ring, I bought myself a new scarf, a few incense sticks and an opium blossom oil. It smelled so good, I couldn't resist. Then we went through the city and along the lake promenade towards the gardens and from there back to Hafenstrasse.
The view and the landscaped gardens are beautiful and the view of the mountains behind is very beautiful. And since every city tour includes an ice cream, I treated myself to one and strolled along the harbor promenade.
There is a burger shop in Queenstown that is being hyped all over the internet and when I happened to walk past there was a long queue outside the shop. The shop also has an attached bakery and I had a look around and found something that my bread-loving eyes couldn't take off - a giant focaccia for only €3. And man, this pastry was huge. I felt like a toddler with a pizza in my hand - INSANE!
Queenstown itself is a nice little town but I wouldn't spend more than a day here because there isn't that much to discover. Unless the visitor wants to spend days here spending money, because I think that would be very easy to do with eating out and shopping. The city markets itself as the city of adventure or the city of outdoor activities. That is absolutely true because visitors can do anything their heart desires and whatever their wallet fears, from canyoning to paragliding.
In addition, the accommodation options are really expensive and nothing special compared to other not so famous places I have been to. However, the nature around the city is really beautiful and the lake is also something special. You can really go hiking and cycling here.
Back at the campsite, we started cooking and there is one thing I really want to show you about the site! There is a big tree on the site. This tree has been fitted with little doors and is now home to some elves.
For the next day I booked a tour for myself and my inner nerd through BookMe. BookMe is a website that offers tours and attractions in New Zealand with remaining stock and I can save up to 90% on tickets. This also applies to the Lord of the Rings tour. Here I only paid 99 dollars instead of 169. I'll tell you all about my LOTR experience in the next post.
